Fair and Balanced

from lgf

Federal judge Robert Sweet (an 82-year old Jimmy Carter appointee with a long history of controversial rulings) has decided that New York cops will not be allowed to search bags and backpacks at the Republican National Convention—unless they have specific information that an attack is about to happen: Cops rip judge: ‘It’s giving an open door to terrorists’. (Hat tip: Right Wing Conspirator.)

Sweet’s decision also limits how many streets the NYPD can close around Madison Square Garden, and prohibits cops from penning protesters behind metal barricades.

And on the opposing side....

MORE CRUSHING OF DISSENT:

Cement barriers, 8-foot-tall chain-link fencing, and heavy black netting have been installed around the protest zone outside the FleetCenter, angering protesters who say they will be penned in and closed off from Democratic National Convention delegates.

Much of the area is located under abandoned elevated Green Line tracks that slope downward. The setup, which one netting installer called ''an internment camp," will force tall protesters at the southern end of the zone to lower their heads to avoid banging them on green metal girders.

So, as a protester at the Republican convention, I can wear a backpack and carry whatever I want inside, while if I were to protest the Democrat's convention, I'd be put into an internment camp...

seems fair to me.
