Anna and the King Queen Suited

Nothing like team play to really win some money.

“Who’s winning?”

If the question hadn’t come from a six year old with moon pie eyes and no concept that the mountain of chips in front of me at the moment meant more in the context of the game than the piddling little stacks of the others hunched over the coffee table playing Hold Em, I might have been prone to give the question the ol’ roll-my-eyes-and-audibly-sigh treatment.

“He is honey,” Anna’s father, Joe, replied. “Look at how many more chips he has than all of us.”

Argyll's baynoet charge

OUTNUMBERED British soldiers
killed 35 Iraqi attackers in the Army’s first bayonet charge since the Falklands War 22 years ago.
The fearless Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders stormed rebel positions after being ambushed and pinned down.

Despite being outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds in the hand-to-hand fighting near the city of Amara.

The battle erupted after Land Rovers carrying 20 Argylls came under attack on a highway.

After radioing for back-up, they fixed bayonets and charged at 100 rebels using tactics learned in drills.

When the fighting ended bodies lay all over the highway — and more were floating in a nearby river. Nine rebels were captured.

An Army spokesman said: “This was an intense engagement.”

The last bayonet charge was by the Scots Guards and the Paras against Argentinian positions.

So, where's the pipers?

Iggy's NLHE Blogger tourney

Wow Iggy's blogger NLHE on Pacific was fun, even though I busted out early.

The hand that I really remember was the 2nd hand played.

KK. in the BB
Everyone folds, except the SB. I forget the exact details, of who raied, but I'm all in at the turn. SB has KK as well, and we split the pot.
My net gain -0-. Sigh. At least it was free money, since Pacific had put $25 into my bank just to start playing cash games.

I ended up losing a few hands, down to T100, then went on a small rush back to T450 or so, before losing. Finished 22nd I think, out of 30.
Really enjoyed watching the rest of the action, trying to figure out who had what kind of hand.

I have a few thoughts about Pacific, even though I have a limited base to compare them to (Empire)

I really wish you could show your hand in the tourny, especially for the friendly events.

I like the %SF data on the tables. it really helps to pick a loose table. I made $8 playing 0.10 / 0.20 in 30 minutes. 40BB. They will literally have 4 or 5 call to the river, and have highcard jack win. It's amazing. Any kind of starting hand wins.

Song for Kilts

A Song for Kilts

How grand the human race would be
If every man would wear a kilt,
A flirt of Tartan finery,
Instead of trousers, custom built!
Nay, do not think I speak to joke:
(You know I'm not that kind of man),
I am convinced that all men folk.
Should wear the costume of a Clan.
